Overview
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners plc, commonly known as CCEP, is a multinational beverage bottling, sales and distribution company headquartered in London. It operates within The Coca-Cola Company's global bottling network but is a separately listed independent bottler rather than the owner of the Coca-Cola trademark. Its principal role is to manufacture, package, distribute, market and sell Coca-Cola system beverages and selected partner and local brands in its licensed territories. CCEP was created on 28 May 2016 as Coca-Cola European Partners through the combination of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola Iberian Partners and Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke. The transaction consolidated the principal Coca-Cola bottling operations in much of Western Europe and created a large independent bottler measured by revenue. The company subsequently expanded beyond its original European footprint. It acquired Coca-Cola Amatil, an Australian bottler with operations and associated interests in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea, and changed its name to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners on 10 May 2021. The company serves a broad portfolio rather than a single beverage category. Its products include sparkling soft drinks such as Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite and Fanta; energy drinks including Monster; and a range of local or regional brands, including Mezzo Mix, Urge and L&P. Its activities vary by market and licensing arrangement, and the portfolio can include water, sports drinks, juices, energy drinks, mixers and other non-alcoholic beverages. CCEP also undertakes route-to-market functions, customer management and in-market activation for supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, hospitality venues, vending channels and other points of sale. As described in its 2024 business information, CCEP operated in 31 markets, had 97 production facilities and produced more than 90% of the beverages it sold in the country where they were consumed. This local-production model is important to its economics because beverage bottling is closely tied to regional manufacturing, packaging supply, logistics and customer service. The company therefore combines a global brand portfolio with market-specific production and distribution networks. CCEP became publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange in March 2019, with its shares traded in euros. It is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index and its securities are also traded on Nasdaq in the United States, Euronext Amsterdam and the Spanish Stock Exchange. Its 2024 annual sales were reported as €20.4 billion; this figure relates to the 2024 financial year and should not be treated as a current estimate outside that reporting period. The company's positioning is that of a scaled, multi-market bottling and commercial partner within the Coca-Cola system. Its competitive strengths include geographic reach, production capacity, distribution density, customer relationships and the ability to combine globally recognized brands with local execution. CCEP also participates in sponsorship and sports-marketing activities, including its naming-rights arrangement with Erebus Motorsport, which operated as Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus in the 2023 and 2024 Supercars seasons.
History
Coca-Cola Europacific Partners emerged from the consolidation of Coca-Cola bottling activities in Western Europe. On 28 May 2016, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Coca-Cola Iberian Partners and Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke combined to form Coca-Cola European Partners. The transaction brought together the main Coca-Cola bottling businesses serving several Western European markets and created a major independent bottler based on net revenue. Unlike The Coca-Cola Company, which owns and licenses the core trademarks, CCEP focuses on local manufacturing, packaging, distribution, customer management and market execution. The company's European platform developed around a country-based production and distribution model. Bottling operations manufacture beverages close to the consumers and customers they serve, while commercial teams support retail, hospitality, food-service, vending and convenience channels. The portfolio includes Coca-Cola beverages and other international brands, alongside regional products whose availability varies by market. This structure allows the company to use the scale of global brands while adapting pack formats, channel programs and product mixes to local demand. CCEP entered public markets on the London Stock Exchange in March 2019, where its shares were traded in euros. It later became a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index and obtained additional trading venues in the United States, the Netherlands and Spain. Public-company status gave the enlarged bottler a broader capital-markets profile while it continued to operate under Coca-Cola system bottling arrangements. A major strategic turning point came with the acquisition of Coca-Cola Amatil. The Australian bottler brought operations and market relationships in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and several Pacific markets. Following completion, Coca-Cola European Partners changed its name to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners on 10 May 2021. The new name reflected the company's enlarged geographic identity rather than a purely European operating model. CCEP continued to broaden its commercial presence through partnerships and acquisitions. In December 2022 it obtained naming rights associated with Erebus Motorsport in the Supercars Championship. The team competed as Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, linking the corporate bottler and beverage portfolio with an Australian motorsport platform. On 23 February 2024, Aboitiz Equity Ventures announced a joint acquisition with CCEP of Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines. The transaction was announced on a debt-free, cash-free basis at a stated value of $1.8 billion, with CCEP holding 60% and Aboitiz Equity Ventures holding 40%. The Philippine transaction further extended CCEP's position in the Asia-Pacific Coca-Cola bottling system. By 2024, CCEP described a network spanning 31 markets and 97 production facilities across Europe, Australia, the Pacific and Indonesia, with the Philippine investment adding to its Asia-Pacific development. Its annual reporting stated that more than 90% of beverages sold were produced in the country in which they were consumed. The company's reported 2024 annual sales were €20.4 billion. CCEP therefore operates as a large, geographically distributed bottler whose scale comes from combining Coca-Cola system brands, local production, dense logistics and market-level commercial execution.
