True Mobile

True Mobile is the mobile telecommunications business associated with True Corporation in Thailand and is marketed chiefly under the TrueMove H name. It is operated by True Corporation subsidiaries including Real Move Co., Ltd. and True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd., formerly known as Real Future Co., Ltd. The business is one of Thailand's major mobile operators and is generally described as the country's second-largest operator by subscribers in the period before the True Corporation and DTAC merger. The business developed from an 1800 MHz mobile license held by Wireless Communication Services Co., Ltd. Charoen Pokphand acquired WCS in 2000. WCS subsequently partnered with Orange and was renamed CP Orange in 2001, then TA Orange in 2002. After Orange sold its stake to TelecomAsia in 2004, the service continued to be marketed as Orange until 2006. TelecomAsia itself was rebranded as True Corporation, and the mobile service was relaunched as TrueMove. True expanded its position through the acquisition of Hutchison CAT Wireless Multimedia and related assets from CAT Telecom in 2010. Real Move subsequently operated and marketed service using capacity on CAT Telecom's 850 MHz CDMA network, while TrueMove H was introduced as the consumer-facing brand for services using that arrangement. The brand later expanded its network footprint through spectrum holdings and licenses in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz bands. Its predecessor TrueMove's original GSM 1800 MHz authorization expired in September 2013, contributing to the transition toward newer network arrangements and spectrum resources. TrueMove H launched a limited LTE service on 8 May 2013, described in the reference material as Thailand's first 4G service using LTE technology. In 2021, True Corporation and Telenor's Total Access Communication announced that they would explore a merger between True and DTAC. Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission acknowledged the transaction in October 2022. The merged company retained the True Corporation name, was established on 1 March 2023, and began trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand under TRUE on 3 March 2023. True Mobile therefore operates within a larger consolidated telecommunications group while continuing to provide mobile connectivity under the TrueMove H identity. The brand's principal business scope includes prepaid and postpaid mobile voice, data connectivity, broadband mobile internet, LTE, and 5G services in Thailand. Its operating model has involved both facilities-based network assets and arrangements using spectrum or network capacity obtained through partnerships and regulatory licenses. A 2016 customer-protection controversy, in which a replacement SIM was allegedly issued without adequate identity verification and was then used in an account takeover, highlighted the importance of subscriber authentication and telecommunications security controls.

The brand's lineage begins with Wireless Communication Services Co., Ltd., which held an 1800 MHz mobile telecommunications license. Charoen Pokphand acquired WCS in 2000. In 2001, WCS entered a partnership with the international telecom operator Orange and became CP Orange. The company changed its name to TA Orange in 2002. Orange later sold its stake to TelecomAsia for a nominal amount in 2004, although the service continued to use the Orange consumer identity until 2006. In 2006, TelecomAsia was rebranded as True Corporation and the mobile service was relaunched as TrueMove. The TrueMove identity represented True's effort to establish a substantial position in Thailand's competitive mobile market. Its initial network history was connected to GSM service on the 1800 MHz band, but the relevant license expired in September 2013. True broadened its mobile assets in 2010 by acquiring Hutchison CAT Wireless Multimedia and its subsidiary from CAT Telecom. Real Move, a True subsidiary, replaced Hutch as the operator associated with CAT Telecom's 850 MHz CDMA network. TrueMove H was introduced as the brand used to market mobile services based on the 850 MHz arrangement. The service subsequently transitioned toward a broader multi-band and mobile-broadband strategy. True's subsidiary Real Future won a 2100 MHz license in 2012. On 8 May 2013, TrueMove H launched LTE service on a limited scale; the service was identified in the reference material as Thailand's first LTE-based 4G offering. In 2015, TrueMove H secured licenses in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands. Together with the 2100 MHz authorization, those spectrum resources supported the brand's expansion beyond earlier GSM and CDMA arrangements and laid the foundation for later 4G and 5G deployment. The mobile business is operated by True subsidiaries including Real Move Co., Ltd. and True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd., formerly Real Future Co., Ltd. Real Move has also been described as a mobile virtual network operator using CAT Telecom's 850 MHz network, while TrueMove H uses licensed 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz spectrum. The brand now provides 5G mobile services in Thailand. A notable 2016 customer-security incident involved the alleged issuance of a replacement SIM without sufficient identity verification. The replacement SIM was reportedly linked to the customer's online account and was used to obtain a new access code, resulting in a substantial financial loss. The case drew attention to SIM replacement controls and telecom-related account security. In November 2021, True Corporation and Telenor announced that they would explore merging True with DTAC. The transaction was acknowledged by Thailand's telecommunications regulator in October 2022. The merged business retained the True Corporation name, was formed in March 2023, and became listed under TRUE on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. True Mobile consequently remains part of True Corporation's post-merger telecommunications structure, with TrueMove H continuing as the principal mobile brand identity.
