Overview
Toughbook is Panasonic’s specialist brand for ruggedized mobile computers. History
Panasonic’s rugged-computing program predates the formal Toughbook name. The CF-41, released in 1995 and also sold in Japan under the Panasonic Pronote AV name, is described as an early technical predecessor in the CF-XX family. The first model formally introduced as a Toughbook was the CF-25, launched in 1996. It established the brand’s emphasis on reinforced construction and operation in demanding field conditions. The CF-27 followed in 1997 and was the first model in the family to carry the Toughbook logo on the rear of the display enclosure.
