Laptop battery fire risk: recall of one million units, accounts differ
At the end of 2017, Panasonic said foreign matter had been mixed into the production of batteries for some laptops (including Toughbook/Let's note models such as CF-SX, CF-AX and CF-C2), posing a fire risk; in March 2018 it expanded the recall to about 1.168 million units, changing the reason to premature battery degradation, and was questioned over inconsistent accounts and shifting responsibility. The Chinese market subsequently recalled 4,175 units. Panasonic's quality reputation was questioned.
