L’Oréal Foundation

The Fondation L’Oréal is the corporate foundation of the L’Oréal Group, formed to empower women to shape their future and make a difference in society. Founded in 2007, it brings consistency to L’Oréal’s efforts to empower women, advance scientific knowledge and support vulnerable people. Its programs include For Women in Science, run with UNESCO, and Beauty for a Better Life, which offers beauty and wellness treatments and vocational beauty training to vulnerable, underprivileged or marginalised women.

The Fondation L’Oréal is the corporate foundation of the L’Oréal Group and was formed to empower women to shape their future and make a difference in society. It was founded in 2007. Its field of action goes back to 1998, when L’Oréal first partnered with UNESCO to create the For Women in Science program to reward outstanding women scientists and raise the profile of women in science. In 2000, it began recognizing upcoming women scientists globally. In 2014, it introduced an award for the 15 best International Rising Talents across all participating countries, and the same year created the For Girls in Science program to inspire school girls to consider science as a career. In 2025, the Fondation L’Oréal and UNESCO announced that the For Girls in Science program, initiated by the Fondation L’Oréal, will now be scaled up internationally through a strategic partnership with UNESCO. Shortly after 2000, the foundation also started to support non-profit organizations that offer free beauty care to cancer patients in hospitals.
