History
Ege Carpets was founded by Mads Eg Damgaard in 1938 in Herning, Denmark. In 1953, the company ended production of other textiles and decided to focus exclusively on carpets. In the early 1970s, a 25,000 m2 tufting factory was built in Herning, and subsidiary companies were founded in Norway and Sweden. In 1985, Ege Carpets was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In 1996, it was the first carpet manufacturer in the world to be awarded the ISO 14001 Environmental Management certificate and achieved EMAS registration. Mads Eg Damgaard died in 1999.
