Disney Treasure

Disney Treasure is a cruise ship owned and operated by Disney Cruise Line, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It is the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet and the second vessel in the Wish class, following Disney Wish. The ship was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and entered passenger service in December 2024. Disney Treasure was developed as part of Disney Cruise Line's expansion program announced in 2016. The first two Wish-class ships were ordered on March 3, 2016, and a third vessel in the class was announced at the 2017 D23 Expo. Although delivery was initially expected in 2022, the schedule was later moved to 2024. Disney Cruise Line publicly revealed the ship's name, Disney Treasure, at the 2022 D23 Expo. The vessel's design was organized around an adventure theme, with visual references to Disney stories and settings associated with exploration, including the fictional city of Agrabah from Aladdin. The ship has a gross tonnage of approximately 144,256 and contains 1,250 staterooms. It is slightly larger than Disney Cruise Line's Dream-class vessels, which have gross tonnage of roughly 130,000, while maintaining a comparable number of guest cabins. The Wish class introduced liquefied natural gas propulsion to Disney Cruise Line and uses azimuthing podded propulsion, marketed as Azipod technology. During development, the class was referred to in public documents as the Triton class before the delivery of Disney Wish established the Wish-class designation. Disney Treasure combines conventional cruise accommodation with a heavily themed entertainment and hospitality offer. Its spaces draw on Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Parks attractions and other Disney properties. The ship's Grand Hall uses architectural motifs associated with Asia and Africa and incorporates elements linked to Agrabah. Dining is organized around Disney Cruise Line's rotational-dining model, in which guests move between restaurants while their serving team follows them. The principal rotational restaurants are 1923, Worlds of Marvel and Plaza de Coco. Adult-only specialty dining is provided at Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. Entertainment and recreation include the AquaMouse water coaster, which uses a new Mickey and Minnie Mouse story titled Curse of the Golden Egg. The ship also contains the Walt Disney Theatre, Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema. The Walt Disney Theatre presents live productions including The Tale of Moana, Beauty and the Beast and Disney Seas the Adventure. Other notable spaces include a Jungle Cruise-inspired lounge, a Tomorrow Tower Suite influenced by EPCOT, a Coco-themed restaurant and a Haunted Mansion-themed bar, the first venue of that type in Disney Cruise Line's history. The ship's construction began with keel laying on March 30, 2023. It was launched in August 2024, completed and delivered in October, and christened in New York City on November 19, 2024. During its delivery voyage to North America, Disney Treasure assisted four people from a sailboat taking on water approximately 80 miles off Bermuda. Its maiden voyage departed Port Canaveral, Florida, on December 21, 2024. The ship initially operated seven-night itineraries in the eastern and western Caribbean.

Disney Treasure emerged from Disney Cruise Line's fleet-expansion program of the mid-2010s. On March 3, 2016, Disney commissioned two new ships larger than the Dream-class vessels but designed with a similar number of staterooms. A third ship was announced at the D23 Expo on July 15, 2017. The vessels were initially expected to enter service in 2022, but the delivery timetable was later shifted to 2024. In March 2018, Disney Cruise Line published an early rendering of the new class. The ships were described as having approximately 140,000 tons of capacity, LNG propulsion and room for at least 2,500 passengers. Public documents issued by Port Canaveral in January 2019 referred to the developing class as the Triton class. After Disney Wish became the lead ship of the class, the group became known as the Wish class. Disney Cruise Line confirmed the name Disney Treasure at the September 11, 2022, D23 Expo. The company presented the ship as an adventure-themed counterpart within the Wish-class design family. The Grand Hall was described as drawing on architectural influences associated with Asia and Africa, while incorporating the fictional city of Agrabah. The broader concept connected the ship to Disney stories about exploration, discovery and legendary treasure. Construction involved several facilities in Germany. The first major section reached Meyer Werft on November 27, 2022. A floating engine-room unit measuring approximately 140 by 39 metres was built at Neptun Werft in Rostock and later transferred to Meyer Werft. The unit contains MAN 12V 51/60DF engines and LNG tanks. The ship's keel was laid on March 30, 2023, and the hull was completed in December of that year. Disney Treasure was floated out in March 2024 and left the Meyer Werft shipyard in September. It reached Eemshaven on September 19, where it underwent sea trials in the Skagerrak. Meyer Werft delivered the ship on October 24, 2024. During the delivery voyage toward North America, the ship responded to a distressed sailboat approximately 80 miles off Bermuda and safely brought four people aboard. The ship was christened in New York City on November 19, 2024. Its maiden voyage began at Port Canaveral, Florida, on December 21, 2024. The initial program consisted of seven-night cruises to the eastern and western Caribbean. As a Wish-class vessel, Disney Treasure has a gross tonnage of 144,256 and 1,250 staterooms.
