History
Dal-Tile traces its origins to 1947, when Robert M. Brittingham founded the Dallas Ceramic Company in a Quonset hut in Dallas, Texas. In 1955, Juan R. Brittingham formed Ceramica Regiomontana, S.A. to manufacture ceramic tile in Monterrey, Mexico, and the company opened its first Sales Service Center in Tampa, Florida. The 50th Sales Service Center opened in Reno, Nevada in 1977. In 1980, Dallas Ceramic Company changed its name to Dal-Tile Corporation and purchased Keystone Ridgeway, a manufacturer of unglazed ceramic mosaic tiles. Dal-Tile acquired Edilgress USA in 1983 and opened its 100th Sales Service Center in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1987. In 1999, Dal-Tile unveiled its Natural Stone Collection and opened its first Tile & Stone Gallery in Dallas. It entered a joint venture with Italian tile maker Emil Ceramica in 2000. Mohawk Industries acquired Dal-Tile Corporation in 2002. Subsequent milestones include a glazed porcelain manufacturing plant in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 2003, the Exterior Collection in 2007, the Manufactured Stone Collection and partnerships with Microban and Dupont in 2009, and a new Natural Stone Collection in 2010. Dal-Tile is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and operates as a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries.
