CNH Industrial N.V. is a Netherlands-incorporated multinational manufacturer whose principal activities are agricultural machinery, construction equipment, equipment financing, and aftermarket parts and service. CNH Industrial's history is an accumulation of agricultural, construction and industrial equipment businesses rather than the story of a single original manufacturer. One important lineage begins in 1842, when Jerome Increase Case established the Racine Threshing Machine Works. Case later expanded from threshing machinery into road-building and construction equipment. Its agricultural heritage also became connected with International Harvester, whose predecessor companies consolidated in 1902 and whose Farmall tractor, introduced in 1923, became a landmark of mechanized farming. Case and International Harvester's agricultural operations were combined in 1985 to create Case IH. Case IH subsequently acquired Steiger and developed the Magnum, Steiger and Quadtrac tractor families, as well as the Axial-Flow rotary combine line.
