Overview

Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings (广药白云山) is a major Chinese pharmaceutical and consumer-health group headquartered in Guangzhou, Guangdong. It is the listed flagship of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL, 广药集团), a state-owned enterprise group under the Guangzhou municipal government. The company operates through multiple subsidiaries and production bases, and its products are sold across China through hospitals, pharmacies, and retail channels, as well as exported to international markets. Its consumer-health segment, particularly herbal drinks and supplements, gives it a strong presence in the fast-moving consumer goods space alongside its pharmaceutical operations. As a listed company, Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings trades on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange (A-share, 600332) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (H-share, 0874). The group has pursued acquisitions and brand consolidation, and it invests in research and development of both traditional formulations and modern medicines. History

Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings traces its roots to the consolidation of several Guangzhou-based pharmaceutical enterprises under Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL), a state-owned group established by the Guangzhou municipal government. Over time, GPHL integrated a number of well-known local medicine brands, including Baiyunshan, into a single corporate structure. The listed entity, Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings, became the group's flagship vehicle on the capital markets, with shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The group expanded through organic growth and acquisitions, building a broad portfolio that spans traditional Chinese medicine, chemical pharmaceuticals, and consumer health products. A significant part of the group's consumer profile comes from its herbal tea and health-drink business, notably the Wanglaoji brand, which is one of China's best-known herbal beverage trademarks. The group has also invested in modernizing production, research and development, and distribution to serve both domestic and export markets. As a state-owned enterprise, the group operates within China's pharmaceutical regulatory framework and participates in national healthcare and TCM development initiatives. Its dual-listing status gives it access to both domestic and international capital.
