Zveza društev pravnikov Republike Slovenije

Zveza društev pravnikov Republike Slovenije (also known as Zveza društev pravnikov Slovenije) is the umbrella organization of Slovenian legal societies. It brings together 29 member societies covering a broad range of legal specializations and regional lawyer associations, including societies for international law, administrative sciences, criminal law and criminology, constitutional law, labor law and social security, maritime law, mediation, sports law, and regional associations such as those of Pomurje, Nova Gorica, the Coast and Karst, Gorenjska, Posavje, Bela krajina, and Slovenj Gradec. It also includes student and young-lawyer organizations such as ELSA Slovenia and SYLA, as well as the Slovenian section of the International Commission of Jurists. The association is best known for publishing Pravnik, described as the oldest Slovenian legal journal. It also co-organizes, together with the Zveza društev za gospodarsko pravo Slovenije, the Dnevi slovenskih pravnikov (Days of Slovenian Lawyers), held annually in Portorož since 1975 and described as the largest legal event in Slovenia. At this event the association presents awards for significant achievements in legal science, legal culture, and legal theory, and together with the business law association it confers the Pravnik leta (Lawyer of the Year) recognition for the most important legal achievement of the year. The association is led by a president and a secretary general. As of the source material, the president is Professor Miha Juhart, a professor and former dean of the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana, and the secretary general is Boštjan Koritnik, a former Minister of Public Administration and secretary of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana. The organization operates primarily in Slovenia and serves as a coordinating and representative body for the Slovenian legal profession's associational life.
