Overview

Ziemann Holvrieka GmbH is a globally active German manufacturer and supplier of brewery plants and tanks, as well as process equipment for the beverage, food and chemical industries. Its headquarters and research and development center are in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, with a second production site in Bürgstadt, Lower Franconia, where tanks and systems are finally assembled and shipped directly on the Main river. The company's core competencies lie in the planning and construction of complete brewery plants and stainless steel tanks. The business traces its origins to 1852, when August Andreas Ziemann founded a copper smithy in Stuttgart. Early products included bent copper pipes, apparatus and pipelines. In 1882 Ziemann delivered the world's first copper steam brewing pan. In 1903 it equipped the Tsingtao brewery in Qingdao, northern China, with brewing kettles. Due to strong demand, the company moved to Ludwigsburg in the 1930s. In the early 20th century, fermentation vats and storage tanks were made of aluminum; from the 1960s stainless steel replaced previous materials. In 1988 Ziemann acquired Helmut Bauer GmbH in Bürgstadt, where brewery tanks and plants are still manufactured today. In 2005 the company commissioned its pilot brewery in Ludwigsburg, used to develop new technologies, processes and recipes. In 2009 Ziemann received the contract to build what was then the world's largest brewery plant in Piedras Negras, Mexico. In early 2010, Corona beer was bottled for the first time at the new facility. From 2013, Ziemann received several follow-up orders to expand the brewery to a production capacity of 27.5 million hectoliters. In August 2012, after the insolvency of the former A. Ziemann GmbH in June 2012, the China International Marine Container (CIMC) Group took over a large part of the company. Ziemann Holvrieka GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of the Dutch CIMC Enric Tank and Process B.V. (CETP), which also includes several sister companies from the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. Since October 2015, the companies have carried the joint company name Ziemann Holvrieka. Ziemann Holvrieka supplies brewery solutions worldwide to large international groups such as Carlsberg, Constellation Brands and Anheuser-Busch InBev, as well as to medium-sized breweries including the craft brewery BrewDog. The company's long-term goal is to create a brewing process that is self-sufficient in fossil energy, thereby reducing energy costs while protecting the environment. In addition to brewery solutions, Ziemann Holvrieka develops and supplies process, storage and ship tanks made of stainless steel for the industrial segments of beverages and food, dairy, edible oil and the chemical industry.
