Zhen Yu Hardware (振宇五金, stock code 2947) is a Taiwanese chain of open-format, self-service DIY hardware and home-repair stores. It traces its origins to 1977, when its predecessor Lian Da Hardware Wholesale Warehouse (聯達五金批發倉儲) was founded as a hardware wholesaler. In 1989 the company opened its first retail store in Taichung's Nantun District, described as Taiwan's first open-format self-service professional hardware chain store. The brand positions itself as "Taiwan's largest professional hardware and home-repair store" and as the largest professional hardware chain in central Taiwan. The company operates a network of directly operated chain stores across Taiwan, spanning northern, central, southern and eastern regions, with locations in cities such as Taipei/New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Yilan and Hualien. Zhen Yu Hardware has grown steadily over the decades, reaching 20 stores in 2010, 30 in 2013, 40 in 2015 and 50 in 2019. It moved its headquarters to Qingzhong Road in 2008 and opened a new corporate headquarters on Huanzhong Road in 2019. The company registered on Taiwan's Emerging Stock Board (興櫃) on 22 September 2020 and was approved for TPEx listing (上櫃) on 25 June 2021, officially listing on 6 October 2021 under ticker 2947. By March 2024 it had reached 80 stores, and by September 2026 it opened its 99th store in Zhudong, Hsinchu, approaching a 100-store milestone. The brand emphasizes a corporate culture of "people-oriented, integrity first" (以人為本，誠信為首) and aims to become a community repair center. It has received numerous awards, including the Ministry of Economic Affairs Small and Medium Enterprise Administration's Enterprise Pilot Award (企業領航獎) for three consecutive years (2014–2016), the 14th National Quality Yushan Award (2017), the 20th National Brand Yushan Award (2023), and the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Healthy Workplace certification. Zhen Yu Hardware's history begins in 1977, when its predecessor Lian Da Hardware Wholesale Warehouse (聯達五金批發倉儲) was established as a hardware wholesaler during a period of rapid economic development in Taiwan. The founder, inspired by a visit to Japan where he observed that hardware was an indispensable daily necessity, returned to Taiwan with the ambition to transform the traditional hardware retail experience by offering a comfortable, convenient shopping environment with carefully selected quality products at reasonable prices. In 1989, the first Zhen Yu Hardware store opened in Taichung's Nantun District, described as Taiwan's first open-format self-service professional hardware chain store. The company expanded steadily through the 1990s and 2000s. In 1996 it began opening branch stores. In 2002 it introduced the first VIP membership card in the industry. In 2008 the headquarters moved to Qingzhong Road to accommodate growth. In 2009 it launched the Zhen Yu Hardware co-branded credit card. By 2010 the store count reached 20 with the opening of the Dongshan Store, and the network expanded northward to Toufen Store. In 2012 it crossed the Tamsui River with Linkou and Xinzhuang stores, and received a Bronze Award in the Training Quality Evaluation System (TTQS). In 2013 the 30th store opened (Longtan Store), and the company received the Ministry of Economic Affairs Small and Medium Enterprise Administration's Learning Model Award. In 2014 it received the Enterprise Pilot Award and again a TTQS Bronze Award. In 2015 the 40th store opened (Yongkang Store), crossing the Bazhang River. From 2014 to 2016 it received the Enterprise Pilot Award for three consecutive years. In 2017 it won the 14th National Quality Yushan Award. In 2018 the Northern Warehouse and Logistics Center officially opened. In 2019 the 50th store opened (Xingye East Store), employee count surpassed 500, the corporate headquarters on Huanzhong Road officially opened, and the network expanded to eastern Taiwan with the Luodong Store. On 22 September 2020, Zhen Yu Hardware (2947) was officially registered on the Emerging Stock Board (興櫃). It also received the Health Promotion Certification from the Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare (2019–2021) and the Sports Enterprise Certification from the Sports Administration, Ministry of Education (2020–2022). On 25 June 2021, the TPEx approved its listing application, and on 6 October 2021 it officially listed on the TPEx (上櫃) under ticker 2947. That year it also opened the Jingmao Concept Store and received the 6th Potential Mid-sized Enterprise Award from the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs. In 2023 the Customer Service Center was established, and the company received the Venture Capital Rising Star Award at the Taiwan Investment Expo, the 20th National Brand Yushan Award for Outstanding Enterprise, the Ministry of the Interior Fire Agency's Outstanding Unit Award for Disaster Prevention Zone, the 2023 Happy Enterprise Gold Award from 1111 Job Bank, the 21st Golden Exhibition Award from the Workforce Development Agency for employing people with disabilities, the CHR Healthy Enterprise Citizen Pledge from CommonHealth Magazine, and recognition from the Sports Administration for employing corporate sports instructors. In December 2023 the Southern Warehouse officially opened. In March 2024 the Annan Store opened, bringing the store count to 80. By September 2026 the company opened its 99th store in Zhudong, Hsinchu, approaching its 100th store milestone.
