Overview

Zadarma is an international cloud telecommunications company founded in 2006 by Dmytro Tokar and Vitalii Chupryna. The name derives from the Eastern European word "Zadarmo," meaning "free," reflecting the company's freemium approach to cloud communications. Operating for over 19 years, Zadarma has grown into a global provider serving more than 2,000,000 registered users across over 160 countries, with legal entities in Spain, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria. The company's core offering is a cloud PBX (virtual phone system) that businesses can set up in about five minutes, with features including interactive voice response (IVR), call transfer, pickup, forwarding, recording, statistics, speech recognition analytics and voicemail. Zadarma also provides virtual phone numbers — around 30,000 numbers in 110 countries — including toll-free and mobile numbers with SMS capabilities, as well as VoIP calling with unlimited price plans, free calling bundles, per-second billing and caller ID support. Its services integrate with major CRM, AI and messaging systems. Beyond telephony, Zadarma offers Teamsale CRM, a free customer relationship management system integrated with its cloud PBX; SMS services supporting two-way messaging and SenderID; HLR lookup for phone database actualization; eSIM data plans covering 150+ countries; and speech analytics that transcribe calls in more than 50 languages. In 2022 the company became an MVNO, introducing its own mobile numbers in France, and in 2025 it obtained an ISO/IEC 27001 security certificate and opened a new data center in Madrid. Zadarma positions itself as a cost-effective, easy-to-configure alternative to traditional phone systems, advertising savings of up to 90% and unlimited PBX plans from just $4 per user per month. It provides 24/7 multichannel customer support and has expanded its integrations marketplace, browser extension, mobile and desktop apps, and API offerings over the years. The company reported annual revenues of more than €15 million in 2019 and continues to develop AI-powered features and global infrastructure.

History

Zadarma was founded in 2006 by Dmytro Tokar and Vitalii Chupryna. The company adopted the name "Zadarma," derived from the Eastern European word "Zadarmo," meaning "free," because it uses a freemium model in cloud communications. In 2008, the company began selling virtual numbers in various countries around the world. In 2012, it launched its cloud PBX — a business telephony system enabling call transfer, recording, forwarding and interception, as well as instant message notifications within messaging apps such as Slack, Telegram and Messenger — and Zadarma virtual numbers became available in 70 countries. Zadarma introduced an API interface in 2015. In 2017, data centers were launched in New York. The company also introduced call tracking services in 2018. In 2019, Zadarma presented Teamsale CRM, a multifunctional customer relationship management system integrated with the cloud PBX, and surpassed 1,700,000 users. In 2020, it launched Speech Analytics, which transcribes calls and analyzes parameters such as silences, operator interruptions, speech rate and word usage. The company also launched web conferencing services. The following year, a browser extension for instant calls was introduced, leading to 2 million registered users. In 2022, Zadarma became an MVNO, introduced its own mobile numbers in France, and launched an API for distributors and resellers. The following year, the company introduced an eSIM service with internet coverage in more than 150 countries. In 2023, Zadarma was shortlisted for the MVNO of the Year award. In 2024, SMS 2.0 was launched with new rates, SenderID registration and Teamsale CRM integration; the website and support became available in Portuguese; the emergency call feature was expanded to 32 countries; and an API for eSIM was launched. In 2025, Zadarma obtained an ISO/IEC 27001 security certificate and opened a new data center in Madrid. The cloud PBX was integrated with AI platforms, a multichannel user verification API was launched, a macOS app was released, and the HubSpot app received official certification. Zadarma operates in more than 160 countries and is represented by legal entities in Spain, the United Kingdom and Bulgaria. The company has more than 2 million customers worldwide and reported annual revenues of more than €15 million in 2019. Dmytro Tokar is co-founder and serves as Marketing Director, while co-founder Vitalii Chupryna serves as Technology Director.
