Z-Man

Z-Man Fishing Products is based in Charleston, South Carolina, and describes a 30-plus year existence. It began in the 1980s perfecting silicone skirting material for jigs and spinnerbaits, and until 2006 supplied luremakers with high-grade silicone skirts. It teamed with Ron Davis, inventor of the ChatterBait bladed jig, and after Bryan Thrift's 2006 FLW tournament win on Lake Okeechobee, Z-Man assumed all lure-making responsibilities and acquired the ChatterBait patents and trademarks from Davis. Its current product lines include ElaZtech plastics, ChatterBait, hard baits, jigs and spinners, terminal tackle, and apparel.

Until 2006, Z-Man worked solely behind the scenes, supplying many luremakers with high-grade silicone skirts. During this period, Z-Man teamed with Ron Davis, inventor of the ChatterBait bladed jig, initially providing the silicone skirts required to build his ChatterBait lures. When Bryan Thrift dominated an FLW bass tournament on Lake Okeechobee using the ChatterBait in 2006, demand skyrocketed and overwhelmed Davis' manufacturing capacity. Z-Man then assumed all lure-making responsibilities and ultimately acquired from Davis all ChatterBait patents and trademarks, including the mark for its distinctive hex-shaped ChatterBlade. Over the past decade, the ChatterBait, specifically the ChatterBait JackHammer produced in partnership with Japan's Evergreen International, has helped anglers win multiple Bassmaster Classics. In 2023, Bryan Thrift won the Major League Fishing REDCREST Championship with a ½-ounce Spot Remover-pattern JackHammer.

  A pre-rigged, bottom-contact saltwater swimbait with low-center-of-gravity weighting, SWAG tail, and heavy-duty sickle hook, designed for inshore species along the Southeast and Gulf coasts.

• ChatterBait JackHammer

  A ChatterBait produced in partnership with Japan's Evergreen International; it has helped anglers win multiple Bassmaster Classics.
