YMC CO., LTD. is a manufacturer of chromatography products. Its product lineup includes HPLC packing materials, analytical and preparative columns, preparative systems, related devices, and synthesis reactors, and it also offers contract purification services for peptides, proteins, and chiral/achiral compounds. The company was established in 1980 as Yamamura Chemical Research Institute in Yawata-city, Kyoto, and changed its name to YMC CO., LTD. in 1989.

YMC CO., LTD. was established in January 1980 as Yamamura Chemical Research Institute with paid-up capital of 2.5 million yen in Yawata-city, Kyoto. In October 1981, the "YMC*GEL" packing material for high performance liquid chromatography was developed and sales began. In May 1982, sale of packed columns of the "YMC-Pack" series started. In February 1985, YMC Inc. was established in New Jersey, USA. In May 1987, a "Separation Center" was established in Kumiyama-cho, Kuze-gun, Kyoto. In April 1989, the head office was transferred to a building at Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto-city. In July 1989, the company name was changed to YMC CO., LTD. and a Tokyo sales office was established in Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. In November 1991, the "YMC Technology Research Center" was completed in Kokufudai, Komatsu City, Ishikawa prefecture. In July 1993, YMC Europe GmbH was established in Germany. In September 1996, sale of packed columns of the "Pro" series started. In January 1997, ISO 9001 certification was acquired. In March 1998, the head office was transferred to a building at the current address. In April 1998, a Drug Master File (DMF) for "YMC*GEL" was presented to the FDA, USA. In April 2004, acquisition of Kyoto Chromato CO., LTD. made it a wholly owned subsidiary of YMC CO., LTD. In November 2006, sale of "Microreactor" started. In January 2008, YMC America, Inc. was established in Pennsylvania, USA. In April 2008, sale of packed columns of the "Bio Pro" series started. In May 2008, YMC India Pvt. LTD. was established in India.
