Yanaihara Institute Inc. was founded in 1995 by Dr. Noboru Yanaihara. Dr. Yanaihara graduated from the pharmaceutical department, school of medicine, Osaka University in 1953 and earned his master's degree in graduate school of pharmaceutical science at the same university. He started his research in peptide hormone at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA from 1959-1962, and from 1965-1967. After returning to Japan, Dr. Yanaihara became a professor at University of Shizuoka School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The company is located around the foot of Mount Fuji, which is famous for its spring water and natural circumstances. Yanaihara Institute Inc. is a high-tech enterprise that produces antibody products and enzyme-linked immunoassay kits (EIA or ELISA kit). Such technology is utilized for the identification and analysis of biomarkers, or explanation of many unknown proteins. The company offers a complete range of services from antibody production to assay system development, including custom-order antibody production (including polyclonal antibody), custom-order immunoassay method establishment, and custom-order immunoassay measurement by its products or other manufacturers. It has already developed more than 30 enzyme-linked immunoassay kits for the biotechnological market of the world. Over the years, the company has discontinued certain product lines, such as antibody products discontinued from February 18, 2022, and EIA kit products discontinued from the end of March 2025.
