Overview
Y Soft is a privately held Czech technology company headquartered in Brno. Founded in 2000 by Václav Muchna and Martin de Martini, it developed from a university-related student project into a multinational provider of enterprise print-management and document-capture technology. The company serves organizations that need to control, secure, account for, and automate printing and document workflows across office, education, healthcare, government, and other institutional environments. Its principal product family is YSoft SAFEQ. The platform supports print-release workflows, user authentication, copying, faxing, scanning, document capture, cloud printing, and workflow automation. It can be deployed on premises, in hybrid environments, or through cloud services. Y Soft also develops associated hardware, including card readers, print terminals, and gateway equipment, allowing organizations to connect printers and multifunction devices to controlled print environments. This combination of software and purpose-built hardware is central to the company’s historical market proposition. Y Soft expanded internationally through offices, acquisitions, partnerships, and product development. Its first international expansion was into Hungary. In 2008, the acquisition of XpertImage supported the formation of Y Soft North America and contributed to further international development, including operations in Japan and Israel. The company subsequently established a presence in Australia and the United Arab Emirates, and later opened offices in the United Kingdom, China, Denmark, and other markets. Public descriptions of the company identify operations in 21 countries, including offices in France, Denmark, Israel, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and China. Y Soft has also pursued adjacent technology activities. In 2014 it established Y Soft Ventures, an in-house venture arm intended to support Central European entrepreneurs with investment and business assistance. The company later invested in and acquired Czech 3D-printing business BE3D. That relationship produced YSoft BE3D eDee, a 3D printer combined with SAFEQ-based print management, workflow controls, and accounting functions. Y Soft also created YSoft Labs, an internal innovation center working on artificial intelligence, robotics, business processes, and future 3D-printing applications. The company broadened its software model during the 2010s, including subscription-based print management and document capture. Its acquisition of Danish cloud-print specialist EveryonePrint in 2022 strengthened its cloud strategy and added Copenhagen to its office network. Software from that acquisition contributed to the SAFEQ Cloud and SAFEQ Managed services. In 2025, Y Soft presented SAFEQ Cloud as a broader product family, distinguishing SAFEQ Cloud Breeze for cloud-oriented environments from SAFEQ Cloud Pro for hybrid infrastructures. Beyond print management, Y Soft has developed products such as Clerbo, which evolved from document management and process support into an employee-lifecycle and learning-experience platform. It has also developed AIVA, first introduced as an automated testing system for physical touchscreen devices using robotics, cameras, computer vision, and machine learning. Later plans described AIVA as a public cloud service for visually testing web applications. Overall, Y Soft’s positioning combines enterprise workflow software, controlled printing, document digitization, specialized device hardware, and applied automation technologies.
History
Y Soft began in 2000 in Brno, Czech Republic, when Václav Muchna and Martin de Martini developed the company out of a student project associated with Masaryk University. Muchna left university and started the business shortly after his twentieth birthday. The company initially concentrated on software for managing organizational printing and gradually developed a broader portfolio covering document capture, workflow automation, device integration, and printing accountability. Its first international step was an office in Hungary. In 2008, Y Soft acquired XpertImage. That transaction supported the establishment of Y Soft North America in Grapevine, Texas, and formed part of a wider international expansion that included offices and operations in Japan and Israel. In 2012, the company obtained a United States patent concerning scalable cloud processing of files. In 2013, it expanded into Australia through the acquisition of Equitrac Systems and opened an office in Dubai. Y Soft diversified its corporate activities in 2014 by creating Y Soft Ventures, an internal investment and support organization aimed at Central European entrepreneurs. During the same period, it invested in and subsequently acquired Czech 3D-printer manufacturer BE3D. The resulting cooperation combined BE3D hardware with YSoft SAFEQ software. One notable outcome was YSoft BE3D eDee, a managed 3D-printing system incorporating print authorization, workflow management, and usage accounting. In 2015, Y Soft began supplying print-management and document-capture capabilities through subscription arrangements, marking a move toward software as a service. In 2016, it created YSoft Labs to investigate artificial intelligence, robotics, business processes, and future 3D-printing applications. The company released YSoft SAFEQ 6 as a platform during the same year and joined the Mopria Alliance. In 2017, SAFEQ became a Mopria-certified enterprise print server for Android mobile printing. Y Soft also opened offices in the United Kingdom and China and moved its manufacturing operation to larger premises. The company continued to work beyond conventional print management. Clerbo, introduced as a document-management and process application, developed into an employee-lifecycle and learning-experience platform supporting preboarding, onboarding, learning and development, and offboarding. In 2019, Y Soft launched BE3D Academy, an educational component of its 3D-printing platform that supplied teachers with 3D-printing resources. Y Soft strengthened its cloud-print strategy in 2022 through the acquisition of Danish company EveryonePrint. The deal brought the EveryonePrint technology into Y Soft’s portfolio, added a Copenhagen office, and was followed by the SAFEQ Cloud and SAFEQ Managed subscription services. Former EveryonePrint chief executive Tavs Dalaa became Y Soft’s chief technology officer. Also in 2022, YSoft Labs introduced AIVA, an automated testing system for physical touchscreen devices based on robotic movement, cameras, computer vision, and machine learning. In 2025, Y Soft reorganized the presentation of its cloud-print products under the SAFEQ Cloud family. SAFEQ Cloud Breeze was aimed at cloud environments, while SAFEQ Cloud Pro addressed hybrid deployments. The company also introduced the MFX4 generation of card readers, including Reader, Mobile, Lite, and Ultimate variants. A later product direction described AIVA as a public cloud service for visually testing web applications, preserving its emphasis on evaluating interfaces through visual interaction rather than inspecting application source code. Y Soft is headquartered in Brno and has been described as operating in 21 countries. Its international network has included offices in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. The company has also participated in Czech-American business representation, serving on the board of the United States Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic since 2020; a company representative was reported as a board member from 2020 to 2022 and vice president from 2022.
