Overview
Yōrōrando (養老ランド) is a small amusement park located in Yōrō-chō, Yōrō-gun, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, directly adjacent to Yōrō Park. It is operated by Sanritsu Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. (三立開発株式会社), a company founded in 1968 as a real-estate business that opened the Yōrō Bowl bowling alley in 1972 and the Yōrōrando amusement park in July 1973. The park began with coin-operated rides such as a chain swing, Astro Jet, and merry-go-round, and has since grown into a family-oriented leisure destination aimed primarily at young children. The park's attractions are almost entirely designed for small children, with some age restrictions and a requirement that children aged 0–3 be accompanied by a guardian. Indoor facilities (in the former Yōrō Bowl building) include a merry-go-round and a game center, while outdoor facilities include a merry-go-round, Flower Cup, go-karts, a Ferris wheel, a monorail, a fishing pond, and a Shinkansen-themed ride. Most rides are paid, with prices varying by attraction; admission is 600 yen for adults (junior high school and above) and 400 yen for children, with 0–1 year olds free. The park also features Restaurant Himawari, a petting zoo (Animal Fureai Hiroba), and Yōrō Tenmangū shrine. Opening hours are 9:00–17:00 (the animal plaza is 10:00–16:00). The park is closed on Tuesdays (or the following Wednesday if Tuesday is a holiday), and from January 10 to March 15 it operates only on weekends and holidays. During spring and summer vacations it is open every day. Access is about a 10-minute walk from Yōrō Station on the Yōrō Railway Yōrō Line. Nearby attractions include Yōrō Park, Yōrō Falls, Yōrō Shrine, Yōrō-ji, Yōrō Tenchi Tenseki-chi (a large art park), Gifu Prefectural Children's Country, and various golf and camping facilities. Historically, the park preserved several railway vehicles, including Meitetsu Mo 767, C12 208 steam locomotive, Wamu 94283 freight car, and Wafu 22184 freight car, but these were removed in the 1990s. The C12 208 was sold to Ōigawa Railway in 1994 and its boiler was later reused for C56 44, which was moved to Senzu Station in 2015 and converted into the "Percy" character. The park remains a modest, locally focused amusement facility serving families in the Gifu region.
History
Yōrōrando traces its origins to Sanritsu Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. (三立開発株式会社), a company established in 1968 (Shōwa 43) as a real-estate business. In 1972 (Shōwa 47), the company opened Yōrō Bowl (養老ボウル), a bowling alley. On June 25, 1972, the facility opened as Yōrō Bowl, and in July 1973 (Shōwa 48), an amusement park was added, marking the opening of Yōrōrando. The park started with coin-operated rides including a chain swing (チェーンブランコ), Astro Jet (アストロジェット), and merry-go-round (メリーゴーランド). It was developed in融合 with Yōrō Park (养老公园), and the two have operated in close association. In 1996 (Heisei 8), an indoor game corner and other facilities were established within the former bowling alley building. Over the decades, the park maintained a collection of static railway vehicles: Meitetsu Mo 767 electric train, C12 208 steam locomotive, Wamu 94283 freight car, and Wafu 22184 freight car. These were removed in the 1990s. Mo 767, Wamu 94283, and Wafu 22184 were scrapped. C12 208 was sold in February 1994 (Heisei 6) to Ōigawa Railway (then Ōigawa Railway) as a parts source. In 2007 (Heisei 19), its boiler was transferred to C56 44. In 2015 (Heisei 27), it was moved to Senzu Station and converted into the character "Percy." The park continues to operate as a children's amusement park, with indoor and outdoor attractions, a restaurant, a petting zoo, and a shrine. It remains a local leisure destination in Gifu Prefecture, operated by Sanritsu Kaihatsu.
