Overview
XSERVER (エックスサーバー株式会社, XServer, Inc.) is a Japanese internet infrastructure company headquartered in Kita-ku, Osaka. It operates one of Japan's most widely used shared rental server services, also named XServer, together with a family of cloud, domain, storage, VPS, WordPress and e-commerce products. The company traces its origins to July 2003, when the XServer trade name was established and the shared rental server service began; the corporate entity, Yugen Gaisha Bet (有限会社ベット), was founded in January 2004 and converted to a kabushiki gaisha in 2006. In July 2012 the company changed its name to XServer, Inc. and moved its head office to Osaka. The flagship XServer rental server is marketed as Japan's number-one shared hosting service by domestic share, with a claimed uptime above 99.99% and more than 20 years of operating experience. The group says its services underpin more than 2.5 million websites. Its product line has expanded well beyond shared hosting: XServer Business for corporate hosting, XServer for WordPress, XServer VPS and the newer XServer VPS Cloud, XServer Domain (domain registration), XServer Drive (cloud storage), XServer Shop (online store builder), XServer SSL, XServer SNS, XServer GAMEs, XServer Cloud PC and XServer Static. The company also runs the wpX and Shin VPS brands and the XWRITE WordPress theme. XSERVER is a private company. It is not an ICANN-accredited registrar; its domain service operates as a reseller of Netowl's domain business. The group presents itself as supporting Japan's digital infrastructure through cloud technology, and it has received recognition including the highest 'aaa' rating under the Japan SME Rating and designation as a Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry 'Smart SME Supporter'. In September 2024 the company changed its service logo from 'Xserver' to 'XServer' to establish a refreshed brand image.
