On 23 September 2009 Seredyński was arrested together with Weronika Marczuk-Pazura on corruption charges linked to the publisher's privatisation; the charges were not confirmed and the arrests were found to have been unjustified. On 18 November 2010 WNT sp. z o.o. was placed in liquidation and its president Dariusz Nowak was dismissed, with the Minister of the State Treasury appointing Zbigniew Zamoyski as liquidator. Two tenders for the sale of two buildings and a plot at ul. Mazowiecka 2/4, the publisher's seat, attracted no buyers at an asking price of PLN 20 million net. In December 2011 the publisher was sold to M-Partner, owner of the online bookstore Drops.pl, and in March 2012 a company named Wydawnictwo WNT was formed to continue publishing. In 2016 all rights held by Wydawnictwo WNT sp. z o.o. were taken over by Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN.
