History

The Krüger Verlag was founded in 1934 by Wolfgang Krüger in Berlin. Before the outbreak of World War II, he gathered German and international authors with their top works (including B. Traven and C. S. Forester). In 1943, expelled from Berlin, the publisher and publisher came to Hamburg in 1945, where the company started anew from nothing and was built in the 50s and 60s into a 'mediator of valuable entertainment literature' (Börsenblatt 1961). In 1970, S. Fischer Verlag took over production and shares of the publishing house and, after Wolfgang Krüger's death, re-founded it as an independent publisher with its own program in 1976 in Frankfurt am Main.
