Woimasointu

Woimasointu is a small independent record label based in Espoo, Finland, founded in 2001. It was initially established to release music exclusively on vinyl, but soon expanded into CD releases before later abandoning CDs and returning to a vinyl-only focus. The label primarily releases Finnish punk rock, has participated in selected international co-releases, and in its early years issued solo records by members of the Ramones, including Dee Dee Ramone, Marky Ramone, and CJ Ramone. Its catalogue numbering begins at WS005, with WS001–WS004 reserved for the unlikely possibility of releasing music by the Ramones themselves. The label describes itself as an "indiepunkpaja" (indie punk workshop) from Espoo, dealing in vinyl releases and "all kinds of rock, punk-oriented," with a special affection for the Ramones. It sells its own releases as well as other labels' records through its webshop, Discogs, and huuto.net, and distributes its releases to well-stocked record shops via Supersounds. Woimasointu maintains a Facebook presence and accepts orders by email. The label remains active, with recent announcements including a digital reissue of Häiriköt's 2003 "Joey ja Dee Dee" single and an upcoming vinyl LP.

Woimasointu was founded in 2001 in Espoo, Finland, as a small independent record label. It was initially set up to release music exclusively on vinyl, but fairly soon it also began issuing music on CD. Later, the label abandoned CD releases and returned to a vinyl-only focus. From the start, Woimasointu concentrated on Finnish punk rock, but it also participated in selected international co-releases. In its early years, the label released solo records by members of the Ramones: Dee Dee Ramone's 'Born to Lose' 7" and 'Hop Around' LP (both containing versions not released elsewhere on CD, and the LP including an entire track unavailable elsewhere), Marky Ramone's 'Speedkings Ride Tonight' 7" and 'Rawk Over Scandinavia' 7" EP, and CJ Ramone's band Bad Chopper with the 'Real Bad Time' 7". The catalogue also includes a 7" by Italian band Senzabenza, one track of which was recorded and produced by Joey Ramone and Daniel Rey. The label's catalogue numbering starts at WS005, because WS001, 002, 003 and 004 were reserved for the unlikely possibility that Woimasointu would release music by the Ramones themselves. The label has continued to operate as a small independent entity, selling its own releases and other labels' records through its webshop, Discogs, and huuto.net, and distributing to record shops via Supersounds. In 2026, it announced a digital reissue of Häiriköt's 2003 single 'Joey ja Dee Dee' and an upcoming vinyl LP.
