Overview

Wista is a Japanese company that manufactures professional photographic equipment. Its predecessor was Musashino Kōki, a manufacturer of cameras and photographic equipment. In 1972, with the release of the Wista 45 camera, the company name was changed to Wista. Today, it continues to manufacture professional equipment, including large-format cameras and trimming cutters.

History

Wista's predecessor was Musashino Kōki, a manufacturer of the Ritrek SP (6x9 SLR), Ritrek 6 (6x6 SLR), Ritrek View (5x7 technical compact camera), Chanel shutter, and Sinox enlarger. From 1968 to 1972, manufacturing and sales were separated, and the sales company Ritrek Shōji was established, but due to a dispute with a lens manufacturer over the production and sale of the Ritrek 6, it was dissolved, and Ritrek Shōji became the manufacturing and sales company for products other than the Ritrek 6. In 1972, with the release of the Wista 45 (4x5 technical compact camera), the company name was changed to Wista, and subsequently developed products were unified under the Wista name. Since then, it has consistently manufactured professional equipment.
