WISE started in West Melbourne in 1992 as a not-for-profit employment agency for people with a disability. For more than 30 years it has helped people take steps towards meaningful work, greater independence and a future they can shape for themselves. Since 2001, WISE has invested $3.5 million into innovative projects and programs for youth, refugees and Indigenous communities, and it operates three socially inclusive social enterprises. Today it delivers employment and support services across Australia, including the Australian Government's Workforce Australia program in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia, and Inclusive Employment Australia across all states and territories.
