Wintershall Noordzee

Wintershall Noordzee B.V. is an international exploration and production company based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. First established in 1965 as Pennzoil Nederland Company, it describes itself as a pioneering independent operator of its time. The company operates offshore production installations and subsea completions, producing gas from the Dutch sector of the North Sea for households in the Netherlands, and has expanded its operated portfolio to the continental shelves of Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark. It employs around 240 professionals from many different countries and backgrounds.

The company now known as Wintershall Noordzee B.V., based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, was established in 1965, giving it over 60 years of operating experience in the Southern North Sea. It was first established in 1965 as Pennzoil Nederland Company, described in those days as a pioneering independent operator. Over the years, Wintershall Noordzee has developed and matured, creating the basis of the company it is today. It operates 3 offshore production installations and 3 subsea completions, producing gas from the Dutch sector of the North Sea for households in the Netherlands, and in recent years has further expanded its operated portfolio to the continental shelves of Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark. It currently operates 6 producing installations on the Dutch and English continental shelves, and monitors and controls all its installations from the Central Control Room in Den Helder, the Netherlands. It is also operator of the WestGas Transport (WGT) gas transportation pipeline, which comes to shore close to Den Helder, and of the Q8 gas processing facility in IJmuiden.

An operator active in the southern part of the North Sea, producing natural gas and advocating natural gas as a means to reduce CO2 output during the energy transition.
