History

White Coffee was established in 1939 by David White, selling foodservice coffees. In 1950, David White's son Irwin White joined the company. The company moved to its second location in Astoria, NY in 1955, and to its third location in Long Island City, NY in 1965, expanding its roasting operations. In 1972, founder David White passed away and Irwin White became President, helping pioneer the gourmet coffee industry. In 1977, White Coffee joined the Dine-mor (later known as Royal Cup) system, offering uniform products to national foodservice customers. In 1980, the company greatly expanded bulk gourmet coffee sales with exotic origins, flavors, and dark roasts. In 1983, it moved to a larger facility, its fourth in Astoria, NY, expanding roasting and packing capabilities. In 1990, Jonathan White joined as Executive Vice President. During the 1990s, White Coffee grew with packaged coffees including vacuum bricks for gourmet and private label accounts, added new packaging equipment for both foodservice and retail coffees, and expanded offerings of varietals and flavored coffees. In 1992, Irwin White passed away and Carole White became President. In 2000, White Coffee began the first of a series of plant renovations.
