History
Western Aircraft began over 60 years ago as the corporate flight department of the Morrison Knudsen Corporation (MK), headquartered in Boise, Idaho. In response to an overwhelming need for aircraft repair services, in 1957 the company expanded into providing maintenance for outside customers, marking the formal beginning of Western Aircraft as an aviation services provider. Over the following decades, the company grew from a small repair operation into one of the West's largest aircraft services companies, adding capabilities in avionics, interiors, parts, FBO services, charter and aircraft management. Western Aircraft is now a division of Greenwich AeroGroup, Inc., a holding company that owns and operates a family of aviation service providers across the United States. Greenwich AeroGroup's portfolio includes Professional Aircraft Accessories in Titusville, Florida; Professional Aviation Associates in Atlanta, Georgia; and Summit Aviation with locations in Middletown, Delaware and Greensboro, North Carolina, among others. The group provides general, commercial, government and military aviation services including maintenance, avionics and interior refurbishments; fixed base operations; aircraft sales, charter and management; manufacturing; component repair and overhaul; and parts distribution. At its Boise base, Western Aircraft operates a full-service FBO and a large maintenance, avionics and interiors operation. The company holds factory authorizations for Beechcraft/King Air, Embraer, Falcon, Gulfstream, Pilatus and Piper aircraft, and provides AOG support, paint, engine maintenance and NDT inspections. Its avionics team performs Garmin and Gogo installations, Pro Line 21 and Pro Line Fusion upgrades, Starlink installations and Viasat SatCom solutions. The interiors department handles EMS and air ambulance conversions. Western Aircraft also sells Pilatus PC-24 and PC-12 aircraft and Piper M500, M350 and Archer models, and offers aircraft management and charter through Westair Charter.
