Westermo

Westermo is a Swedish company founded in 1975 that designs and manufactures data communications products for mission-critical systems in physically demanding environments. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ependion and has about 480 employees with global sales exceeding 1 billion SEK.

Westermo was founded in 1975 by Tore Andersson in a former carpentry shop in Västermo, Eskilstuna municipality, Sweden. The first product was KM-1, an isolated line driver. In 1985, a new factory was built in Västermo. In 1995, the first sales and support office outside Sweden opened in Southampton, UK. In 1996, Westermo launched the TD-22 industrial telephone modem. In 2000, it launched the ED-10 to allow serial protocols over Ethernet. In 2005, Westermo acquired OnTime Networks AS. On April 1st, 2021, Westermo acquired Eltec (per snippet).
