It was renamed Westag AG on 2 August 2021. Since 2018 it has been part of Broadview Industries AG, a subsidiary of the Dutch Broadview Holding, which is almost entirely owned by the investment company HAL Investments. Its product range spans plywood and formwork panels, coating materials, coated panel materials for interior finishing, doors and frames, worktops, window sills and kitchen backsplash systems. The company emphasizes sustainability, investing in environmentally friendly production processes and optimizing equipment to reduce raw material and energy consumption. History

Westag AG traces its origins to the Joseph Ellendorff furniture factory, which was entered in the Wiedenbrück commercial register on 7 December 1901. Due to the economic pressures of World War I, the factory was sold on 15 April 1926 to brothers Isaak and Gustav Thalheimer from Hanover and Sigmund Hirschheimer from Ludwigshafen am Rhein, who had previously been major customers of its products. The economic boycott resulting from the Jewish origin of the owners under National Socialism forced them into emigration to England and Brazil in 1936. In August 1938 the company was renamed Westdeutsche Sperrholzwerke Hugo Bresser & Co.; the successful 'Aryanizer' Bresser died in 1945 in Nazi custody after a denunciation by the other partner, Christian Franke. After the end of the war, Erich Thalheimer, son of Isaak Thalheimer, received the plant back. In 1960 the company was renamed Westag & Getalit, and on 26 June 1961 it went public. Between 1989 and 1994 the company issued preference shares. Since 2018 the company has been part of Broadview Industries AG, a subsidiary of the Dutch Broadview Holding, which is almost entirely owned by the investment company HAL Investments. Westag & Getalit AG was renamed Westag AG on 2 August 2021. The admission of both ordinary and preference shares to trading in the regulated market of the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange was revoked at Westag AG's request effective 9 June 2025. On 25 June 2025 the Frankfurt Stock Exchange also revoked, at Westag AG's request, the admission of Westag shares to trading in the General Standard. Since 1 July 2025, Westag AG shares are no longer publicly listed. In terms of business activity, the manufacturer offers construction and finishing products through its two divisions 'Doors/Frames' and 'Surfaces/Elements'. The range extends from plywood and formwork panels through coating materials to coated panel materials for interior finishing. It also offers products such as doors and frames, worktops, window sills and kitchen backsplash systems. The Surfaces/Elements division emerged from the merger of the two formerly independent product divisions 'Plywood/Formwork' and 'Laminates/Elements'. In 2005 the highest-revenue division was Doors/Frames with revenue of €73.2 million and an export share of 10.3 percent. The Laminates/Elements division generated €69.6 million, 27.4 percent of which through exports. The lowest-revenue division was Plywood/Formwork with €27.1 million, but with the highest export share at 33 percent. Annual net income under IFRS was €5.2 million in 2005. In 2006 Westag & Getalit benefited disproportionately from the upturn in the construction industry, with annual net income of €11.9 million. The company's main plant is in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, with a branch plant about 15 kilometers away in Wadersloh. In 2024 Westag AG acquired Reinaerdt Türen GmbH in Saterland.
