History
Wellhausen & Marquardt Medien was founded in 1998 by Tom Wellhausen and Sebastian Marquardt as a side project, launching the magazine Trucks & Details, which focused on remote-controlled model trucks. By the end of 1999, Marquardt left his freelance journalism work, and in early 2000, Wellhausen left his employment at Bauer Verlag to become self-employed. The company then launched additional magazines in the model-building sector and acquired titles in the kite sports segment (2000 and 2006) and the dolls and teddy bear segment (2009 and 2010). In 2017, the publisher entered the food segment with the magazine Brot. In 2010, through the acquisition of parts of the Duisburg-based publisher Wohlfarth, the company added an extensive book program with doll and teddy literature. Since 2012, the publisher has organized the Teddybär total trade fair. The company has also offered PR work for third parties and publishing services since its founding. As of recent years, the publisher produces around nine kiosk magazines and numerous special publications, operates approximately 30 internet presences, and employs about 15 permanent staff along with 400 authors.
