Overview

Walk This Way Records is a German independent music label headquartered in Berlin-Friedrichshain. It was founded in June 2018 by Patrick Thiede and releases music primarily in the hip-hop, pop and urban genres. The label also operates as an artist management and publishing company, and its official website describes it as a "Berlin based Record Label & Label Service | Management | Publishing." Its best-known signing is the rapper Finch (formerly Finch Asozial), whose albums Dorfdisko (2019), Rummelbums (2022) and Dorfdisko zwei (2023) all became major chart successes in Germany, with the latter two reaching number one on the German album charts. In its founding year, Walk This Way Records entered a partnership with Warner Music to support distribution and promotion of its artists. That partnership lasted from 2018 to 2021, during which releases such as Finch's Dorfdisko were distributed through Warner Music Germany. After the cooperation ended in 2021, the label continued as an independent company. Founder Patrick Thiede also took a leadership position at Universal Music's Chapter ONE in 2020, while remaining active in artist management. Beyond Finch, the label has worked with artists such as Mozzik, Argonautiks, AK Ausserkontrolle and AchtVier, and at times positioned itself in the German-language boom-bap segment with acts including Argonautiks, Papke, Ulysse and Sylabil Spill. In 2022 it presented The Female Collabo, a German rap project featuring several female artists in collaboration with Warner Music. Singer and rapper Zartmann released the EP 11 bis 2 through the label in February 2022, along with early singles such as "Komm mit an die Bar," "Schon witzig" and "2 Blocks." The label's management division advises acts including AK Ausserkontrolle, Kolja Goldstein, FiNCH and Juri. Walk This Way Records remains a privately held independent label based in Berlin, active in recorded music, artist management and publishing.
