Waitomo

Waitomo is a New Zealand fuel company founded in 1947 by Desmond Ormsby. It operates over 95 Fuel Stops and Diesel Stops across New Zealand, offering fuel products such as Unleaded 91, Premium 95, Diesel, and GoClear. The company is family-owned and operated, with a focus on providing fairer fuel prices and disrupting the market.

Waitomo was founded in 1947 by Desmond Ormsby in Te Kuiti. In 1953, the Te Kuiti Depot opened. In 1989, the company re-branded and formed Waitomo Brennan Petroleum. In 1994, it started Fuel Direct service in Auckland. In 1996, it changed its name to Waitomo Petroleum Limited. In 2002, the Ormsby family bought shares back from Mobil, making it Kiwi-owned. In 2012, the first Fuel Stop opened in Te Uku. In 2015, the brand 'Waitomo - Kiwis fueling Kiwis' was adopted. In 2019, the company expanded to the South Island. In 2022, it celebrated 75 years. In 2023, it planned to open New Zealand's first hydrogen refueling site at a Waitomo Fuel Stop.

  Installed at select sites in partnership with WEL Networks.

• Hydrogen refueling

  Developing New Zealand's first nationwide hydrogen refueling stations network with Hiringa Energy.
