Overview

Waanders Uitgevers is a Dutch book publisher specializing in books on art, culture, and history. The company's history dates back to 1836 when Jan Marten Willem Waanders took over an existing printing, bookselling, and publishing business in Zwolle. Since 2010, Marloes Waanders has continued the publishing house, producing books on art, culture, and history in the Netherlands and beyond.

History

Waanders Uitgevers has its roots in 1836 when Jan Marten Willem Waanders took over an existing printing, bookselling, and publishing business in the Zwolse Roggenstraat. In 1904, the bookshop and publishing house moved to the Grote Markt, where it remained for nearly a century. The printing works moved in 1967 to the new industrial estate De Marslanden, and the publishing house joined there in 1987. Initially, the publishing house focused on religious Catholic books, newspapers, and magazines. After 1970, under the leadership of Wim J.G.M. Waanders, the company shifted to publications on history and art, including series like 'Ach Lieve Tijd', museum catalogues, and various books. Since 2010, Marloes Waanders has continued the publishing house, still producing books on art, culture, and history in the Netherlands and beyond.
