Its chronology begins with the Rieden power plant going into operation in 1890, used by the textile company Jenny & Schindler to supply its textile works in Kennelbach. In 1899 the Ebensand power plant began operation as a run-of-river plant without storage, drawing water from the Dornbirnerach.
