Visilab

Visilab is a Swiss optical retailer whose first store opened in Geneva in 1988. It has expanded to more than 75 shops across the French- and German-speaking parts of Switzerland. The company partnered with the optical retail group GrandVision in 2007, and since 2021 VisilabGroup has been part of EssilorLuxottica. Visilab offers prescription glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, eye examinations and hearing tests, along with digital services such as online ordering and virtual frame try-on.

The first Visilab store opened in Geneva in 1988 and was an immediate success. In 1990 the first stores outside Geneva opened in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Sion. By 1994 Visilab was the leader in the French-speaking part of Switzerland with 12 stores, and it opened its first Zurich store, beginning expansion into the German-speaking part of Switzerland. In 2007 Visilab became the number one optical retailer in Switzerland with 70 stores, and entered into a partnership with the optical retail group GrandVision. Between 2009 and 2015 the company created the Visilab At Work department (opticians serving companies), began online sales of contact lenses and care products, and created the Visilab At Home department (opticians at home). The partnership with GrandVision was strengthened in 2017, the same year online sales of prescription glasses began. In 2018 Visilab celebrated its 30th anniversary and launched a partnership with SNAB (Swiss National Association of and for the Blind). Since 2021 VisilabGroup has been part of EssilorLuxottica, formed by the merger of Luxottica and Essilor. Today Visilab has more than 75 shops throughout the French- and German-speaking parts of Switzerland.
