Overview

Visegrad Insight is a Central European think tank and media platform that produces analysis, policy debate, foresight and risk intelligence on the region. It was established in 2012 by the Res Publica Foundation, an independent think tank based in Warsaw, Poland, which also publishes the Polish-language journal Res Publica Nowa and runs the New Europe 100 network. Visegrad Insight describes itself as "the main Central European platform of debate and analysis that generates future policy directions for Europe and transatlantic partners." Its editorial coverage spans democratic security, economic security, strategic communication, EU enlargement, the Western Balkans, relations with Russia and China, and transatlantic affairs. The platform combines free and subscription content. It publishes articles, interviews, scenario-based reports and newsletters, including a Monday Weekly Outlook and a Thursday highlights newsletter. It also convenes events such as the Europe Future Forum, organised with the Res Publica Foundation. Its work is supported by a network of Senior Fellows and Resilient Futures Fellows drawn from across Central and Eastern Europe, and it has undertaken projects such as Western Balkans Futures 2030, a strategic foresight exercise on the region's trajectories to 2030. Visegrad Insight is based in Poland and serves individual readers, institutions and corporate customers. Its institutional subscription offers access for up to ten users, all articles and reports, newsletters, event invitations and on-demand foresight, policy and risk analysis. The organisation is led by Editor-in-Chief (CEO) Wojciech Przybylski, with Magda Jakubowska as Vice-President (COO) and Tomasz Kasprowicz as Vice-President (CFO). It remains an active, privately held project of the Res Publica Foundation.

History

Visegrad Insight was established in 2012 by the Res Publica Foundation, an independent think tank in Warsaw, Poland. The foundation also publishes the Polish-language journal Res Publica Nowa and runs the New Europe 100, a network of leaders of tomorrow. From its base in Warsaw, Visegrad Insight grew into what it describes as the main Central European platform of debate and analysis, generating future policy directions for Europe and transatlantic partners. The platform's editorial focus has centred on democratic security, economic security and strategic communication, with coverage of EU enlargement, the Western Balkans, relations with Russia and China, and transatlantic affairs. It has built a network of Senior Fellows and Resilient Futures Fellows from across Central and Eastern Europe, and it convenes events such as the Europe Future Forum, organised with the Res Publica Foundation. Among its notable projects is Western Balkans Futures 2030, a strategic foresight exercise launched in 2022 with top regional partners in Central Europe and the Western Balkans. The project explored possible futures for the Western Balkans in 2030 through scenario-based reports, expert videos and texts on security in the region after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, EU–Western Balkans relations, Serbia–Kosovo negotiations and the political crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Its rationale noted that Western Balkan countries face multiple geopolitical, economic, humanitarian and social challenges, that none was close to EU membership, and that global actors such as Russia, China, Turkey and Saudi Arabia were increasing their influence in the region. Visegrad Insight operates a mixed free and subscription model. It offers institutional and corporate subscriptions, including an annual subscription for up to ten users, with access to all articles and reports, a Monday Weekly Outlook and a Thursday newsletter, personal invitations to Visegrad Insight events, and on-demand foresight, policy and risk analysis prepared by its Fellows. The organisation remains an active, privately held project of the Res Publica Foundation, based in Poland.
