History

Viners has a long history as a family of silversmiths in the UK since the late 19th century. They established their first manufacturing business in 1908 in Sheffield, specializing in plated holloware. After the First World War, Viners diversified into cutlery production and became leading cutlers. They were the first cutlers to utilize real marketing strategies, with designed packaging and advertising campaigns. The iconic Studio range still exists today. In 1930, Viners Ltd was issued with a Royal Warrant as Cutlers and Silversmiths to King George V. In 1957, Gerald Benney CBE was appointed as Creative Director. In 2014, the brand was owned by The Rayware Group, and in 2015, the first TV advertisement and integrated social media campaign launched.
