Overview
«Військо України» (Vijs'ko Ukraїny, literally 'Army of Ukraine') was the official print magazine of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. It was founded on a civic initiative by Volodymyr Korkodym of the National Guard of Ukraine and its first issue appeared in 1992, timed to the first anniversary of Ukraine's independence. From 1994 it served as the central printed organ of the Ministry of Defence. The magazine covered military affairs, defence policy, and the daily life of Ukrainian service members. During the war in Donbas, its military journalists reported from the front line alongside Ukrainian defenders. The editorial team also ran a special project, 'Stories of Ukrainian Warriors', producing books such as «Побратими», «Відчайдухи», «Наші», «Пророцтво Жанни», and «Бойправи» under editor-in-chief Valentyn Buriachenko. The final issue was published on 19 December 2018, after which the publication ceased operations under the Law of Ukraine 'On Reforming State and Communal Print Media', and its journalists moved to the newly created online outlet «АрміяInform». The magazine's archive is available on the 'Chtyvo' website.
