Overview
ViensVoirMonTaf (often abbreviated VVMT) is a French national association created in 2015 by journalists Mélanie Taravant and Virginie Salmen together with middle-school English teacher Gaëlle Frilet. It operates a digital platform, www.viensvoirmontaf.fr, that helps pupils in priority-education middle schools (REP/REP+, formerly ZEP) find quality "stage de 3e" — the mandatory one-week work-experience placement French pupils complete in their third year of collège. The association was born in Romainville (Seine-Saint-Denis), where the founders opened their personal address books so that pupils at the Gustave-Courbet middle school, who often lacked professional networks, could access meaningful placements rather than default or irrelevant ones. Officially founded on 9 July 2015, the association initially served a single school before expanding nationwide. Its digital platform opened at the start of the 2016 school year and was fully rebuilt in September 2018. In June 2018 ViensVoirMonTaf became one of the operators of the national "Mon Stage de Troisième" scheme piloted by the Commissariat général à l'Égalité des territoires, and it was one of ten winners of the La France s'engage foundation competition. By the end of 2018 the association reported more than 1,500 partner professional organisations, including CNRS, EDF and the French Senate, and 2,800 pupils registered on the platform for 1,400 internship offers. Since its creation, 2,000 pupils have found their 3e internship through the site. The organisation combines a digital matching platform with in-school workshops in Île-de-France middle schools, sensitising pupils in the fourth and third years to internships and career guidance. It relies on a network of committed volunteer tutors from many professional sectors. Its stated impact for 2025–2026 includes 80% of pupils raising their academic ambition, 81% boosting self-confidence, and 97% of professionals wishing to host another intern the following year. Karim Rissouli is the association's honorary patron. ViensVoirMonTaf is a loi de 1901 non-profit, not a commercial company, but it operates a trademarked digital service brand.
History
ViensVoirMonTaf was born in 2015 from the shared resolve of three women: Mélanie Taravant, a journalist and presenter of the programme C à dire ?! on France 5; Virginie Salmen, education correspondent at Europe 1; and Gaëlle Frilet, an English teacher at the Gustave-Courbet middle school in Romainville (Seine-Saint-Denis). Observing that third-year pupils at that school, lacking professional networks, often did placements by default that were poorly aligned with their orientation, Taravant and Salmen opened their personal address books so the teenagers could find interesting internships. The association was officially founded on 9 July 2015. Initially limited to a single middle school in Romainville, its action was then extended across France. The digital platform www.viensvoirmontaf.fr opened at the start of the 2016 school year. The association quickly became recognised as one of the important actors in access to quality 3e internships for pupils in priority education, and in summer 2018 it was approached to be one of the operators of the national Mon Stage de Troisième scheme, piloted by the Commissariat général à l'Égalité des territoires within the PaQte framework. Also in June 2018, ViensVoirMonTaf was one of ten winners of the competition run by the La France s'engage foundation, chaired by François Hollande, which each year rewards innovative and solidarity-based initiatives across France. In September 2018 the association moved into L'Ascenseur, a building in the Bastille district of Paris. Its resources include the website, which lets priority-education pupils apply to 3e internship offers; the platform was entirely rebuilt in September 2018. In 2018, 2,800 pupils were registered on the platform for 1,400 internship offers. The ViensVoirMonTaf team also works in Île-de-France middle schools, offering various workshop formats to fourth- and third-year pupils to raise awareness of the 3e internship and of academic and career orientation issues. The association relies on a network of committed tutors from a wide range of professional sectors. At the end of 2018 it counted more than 1,500 partner professional organisations, among them CNRS, EDF and the Sénat. Since its creation, 2,000 pupils have completed their 3e internship after searching on the association's site. Karim Rissouli is its honorary patron.
