VettaFi was born in May 2022 as a collective brand, bringing together the expert teams from ETF Trends, ETF Database, Alerian, and S-Network Global Indexes. Its name combines "Vetta" (Sanskrit for "one who knows") with "Fi" (Finance). In October 2022, VettaFi acquired Advisor Perspectives, a leading interactive publisher. In January 2023, TMX Group acquired approximately 21% common equity of VettaFi for US$175M. In April 2023, VettaFi acquired the ROBO Global index suite and SigmaLogic, Inc., the operator of LOGICLY. In September 2023, it acquired EQM Indexes, LLC, an index shop specializing in thematics. In January 2024, TMX Group completed the full acquisition of VettaFi. In October 2024, VettaFi acquired iNDEX research and development, expanding its footprint into the Middle East. In February 2025, it acquired Credit Suisse bond indices from UBS, strengthening its fixed income capabilities. In June 2025, it acquired ETF Stream to expand its global presence to better serve international clients.
