Overview

Verkehrsgesellschaft Teltow-Fläming mbH (VTF) is the municipal public transport operator for the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg, Germany, south of Berlin. It was formed on 1 January 1999 through the merger of two predecessor companies: Personennahverkehrsgesellschaft Nuthetal mbH (PVN), founded in 1992 to serve the former districts of Luckenwalde and Jüterbog, and Verkehrsgesellschaft Königs Wusterhausen und Zossen mbH (VKZ), which operated bus lines in the Zossen, Baruth/Mark and Ludwigsfelde areas. The merger followed the Brandenburg district reform that combined the districts of Zossen, Luckenwalde and Jüterbog into the new Teltow-Fläming district. The company adopted its current name on 1 November 1999. VTF operates scheduled bus services, school transport, and urban services in Luckenwalde, Ludwigsfelde and Jüterbog, as well as local services in Blankenfelde-Mahlow. It also runs various on-demand (Rufbus) services that extend the network into less densely populated parts of the district. The company carries approximately 3.5 million passengers per year. Its services are integrated into the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) fare and information system. As a municipal transport company, VTF is committed to quality management: it works according to DIN EN ISO 9001 criteria and is certified for service quality in local public transport under DIN EN 13816, with a successful recertification in June 2025. The company celebrated its 30th anniversary on 18 June 2022 at its Luckenwalde depot, marking its development from a former state-owned (volkseigener) bus operation into a modern transport company. It also runs community engagement programs such as BusEntdeckerKids, inviting preschool children from district kindergartens to learn safe bus behavior since 2024.

History

The history of public bus transport in the Teltow-Fläming area before 1990 was organized by the state-owned VEB Kraftverkehr Luckenwalde. After German reunification, the transport sector was restructured. In 1992, Personennahverkehrsgesellschaft Nuthetal mbH (PVN) was founded to serve the former districts of Luckenwalde and Jüterbog. At the same time, Verkehrsgesellschaft Königs Wusterhausen und Zossen mbH (VKZ) was formed with operating sites in Ludwigsfelde and Baruth, covering the former Zossen district. In 1994 and 1995, new public transport authorities were established in Luckenwalde and Ludwigsfelde, and construction work began on depots in Ludwigsfelde and Jüterbog. The Ludwigsfelde depot opened in October 1995. In 1996, renovation of the Luckenwalde depot site began, continuing through 1997–98. On 1 January 1999, PVN and VKZ merged to form Verkehrsgesellschaft Teltow-Fläming mbH (VTF), following the Brandenburg district reform that merged the districts of Zossen, Luckenwalde and Jüterbog into the new Teltow-Fläming district. The company took its current name on 1 November 1999. Modern vehicles replaced often obsolete buses, and new maintenance technology was introduced. On 18 June 2022, VTF celebrated its 30th anniversary at its Luckenwalde depot under the motto "30 Bewegte Jahre" (30 eventful years), reflecting its transformation from a former state-owned operation into a modern transport company. In June 2025, VTF successfully completed recertification for service quality in local public transport according to DIN EN 13816.
