Overview

Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH Untermain (also known as DB Untermainbus) is a German public transport company operating regional bus services. It was established in 1990 from a regional Bahnbus company and is a subsidiary of DB Regio, part of Deutsche Bahn. Its current operating area is the Bavarian Untermain region, though before 1 January 2006 it also covered large parts of southern Hesse within the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV). The Hessian part of the business was taken over by Regionalverkehr Kurhessen GmbH (RKH) due to significant losses from public transport tendering, while the Bavarian part remained independent. The headquarters of the remaining company was moved from Frankfurt am Main to Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. The company carries approximately 14.1 million passengers annually. Its central office is in Ingolstadt, with a branch and operations in Aschaffenburg. As of April 2025, its fleet consists of 43 buses. The company operates numerous bus lines connecting Aschaffenburg Hauptbahnhof with surrounding towns and villages in the Untermain region.
