Veritas Language Solutions Limited, which trades as 'Veritas', is a British translation and language-services company founded on 1 June 2009. It was established by Sharon Stephens and Rachel Bryan, two translation graduates who both earned First Class Honours degrees from Swansea University in 2009. The business began trading from Stephens's home before relocating to the SA1 Swansea Waterfront development, and it operates as a private limited company registered in the United Kingdom. The company provides professional translation and language services, drawing on a network of translators. By the early 2010s it had grown to employ around 30 staff at its main UK office while working with approximately 5,500 translators around the world. It appointed a Finance Director in 2011, reflecting its transition from a start-up into a more structured organisation. Veritas attracted early recognition through a series of business awards. It was named 'Best International Business' at the HSBC Startup Stars awards in 2010, 'Most Promising New Business' at the Swansea Bay Business Awards in 2011, and 'Best Welsh Enterprise' at the Lloyds TSB Enterprise Awards in 2012. In 2010 co-founder Rachel Bryan was named among the 100 most inspirational women in the UK and joined 'Modern Muse', an initiative designed to inspire the next generation of female business leaders. Beyond its commercial work, Veritas runs an annual pan-European translation competition for university students called the Veritas University Challenge, which seeks to identify talented translators across Europe. In 2011 the competition received more than 10,000 applications across eight languages. The company remains a UK-registered language-services provider.
