Overview
Veit Dennert KG is a German building-systems and prefabricated-house company headquartered in Schlüsselfeld, Franconia, between Nuremberg and Würzburg. The group traces its origins to a building-materials trading business founded in 1933 by the Schlüsselfeld entrepreneur Veit Dennert. After the Second World War the trading operation was discontinued for lack of building materials and the company moved into manufacturing. In the 1950s Veit Dennert and his son Heinz Dennert began developing a component system for builders, which became the technical foundation of today's product range. The modern group combines a building-materials retail arm (Dennert Baustoffwelt), a solid prefabricated-house business (Dennert Massivhaus), and industrial production of system components and mineral materials. Its product portfolio includes ceiling systems (the DX ceiling), chimney systems, staircases, prefabricated basements (BASE), wall-building materials, system building materials, kit houses, external thermal insulation composite systems, mineral foam boards, solid prefabricated houses and mineral lightweight aggregates. The company operates production at its Schlüsselfeld headquarters and at five further locations in Germany, and sells through roughly 100 independent sales representatives and distribution partners across Europe. The group, including subsidiaries, employs about 650 people. Dennert is best known among end customers for its solid prefabricated houses, marketed under the ICON brand, which are produced with industrial manufacturing methods and assembled on site in a very short time. The company also markets the BASE watertight basement, the DX intelligent ceiling system and the STEP staircase line. Management is in the hands of the brothers Frank Dennert and Dr. Veit Dennert together with Dirk Denter. The group is privately held and structured around Veit Dennert KG with subsidiaries including Dennert Baustoffwelt GmbH & Co. KG, Dennert Massivhaus GmbH, Dennert Poratec GmbH, Aeropor GmbH, Aeropor Materials GmbH and Dennert Projekteins GmbH.
History
The history of the Dennert group begins in 1933, when the Schlüsselfeld entrepreneur Veit Dennert founded a building-materials trading business. This trading operation formed the cornerstone of what is today the Dennert Unternehmensgruppe. Shortly after the Second World War, the trading business was discontinued because building materials were in short supply, and the company instead built up its own manufacturing capability. In the 1950s Veit Dennert, together with his son Heinz Dennert, started developing a component system for builders. This system approach — supplying coordinated building components rather than only raw materials — became a defining feature of the company and laid the groundwork for its later product lines in ceilings, walls, chimneys and stairs. The group expanded into prefabricated solid houses with the founding of Dennert Massivhaus GmbH in 1998. In 1999 the first ICON house was manufactured, modelled on methods from the automotive industry, reflecting the company's ambition to bring industrial series production and consistent quality to house building. In 2001 the Alfa-Haus production facility was commissioned, further expanding prefabricated house capacity. In the same year Dennert Poratec GmbH was founded; it produces a system of insulation boards based on lime, cement and quartz stone at the Trosdorf production site. From 2014 the company produced and distributed Aeropor, a water-repellent lightweight aggregate used in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and construction industries. This diversified the group beyond classic building materials into specialty mineral products. Over the decades the group grew into a multi-company structure. Veit Dennert KG acts as the parent, with subsidiaries including Dennert Baustoffwelt GmbH & Co. KG (building materials retail), Dennert Massivhaus GmbH (prefabricated houses), Dennert Poratec GmbH (insulation boards), Aeropor GmbH and Aeropor Materials GmbH (lightweight aggregates) and Dennert Projekteins GmbH. Production takes place at the Schlüsselfeld headquarters and at five further locations in Germany. Sales are handled through roughly 100 independent sales representatives and distribution partners across Europe. The group, including its subsidiaries, employs about 650 people. Management is carried out by the brothers Frank Dennert and Dr. Veit Dennert together with Dirk Denter.
