History
The channel that would become USMP TV originated as Canal 33 UHF in Lima. In 1990, it was launched as Colvisión by Empresa Interamericana de Radiodifusión (EIR). It later became Cubo TV in 2008 and was closed in 2010. On June 30, 2014, it launched on digital terrestrial television (DTT) on virtual channel 33.1 in HD, ceasing analog transmissions on UHF channel 33. On January 1, 2016, the channel temporarily returned to analog and then relaunched as USMP TV on DTT with cultural, educational, and documentary programming. On September 12, 2016, it added a music subchannel, USMP TV Música, on channel 33.2. In March 2017, it began broadcasting via Intelsat 34 satellite. On September 18, 2017, USMP TV moved to virtual channel 12.1, with USMP TV Música on 12.2. In April 2020, it formed an alliance with Panamericana Televisión to co-produce the program 'Tiempo para aprender' and acquired 10% of the television station's shares. It later joined Movistar TV's lineup.
