Universidad Politécnica de Chiapas

The Universidad Politécnica de Chiapas (UPChiapas) is a public higher-education institution in the Mexican state of Chiapas. It was created by decree published in the Periódico Oficial No. 276, publication No. 1694-A-2004 Bis, dated 1 December 2004, as a decentralized organism of the state public administration with its own legal personality and assets. Its campus is located at Carretera Tuxtla Gutiérrez - Portillo Zaragoza Km 21+500, Colonia Las Brisas, in Suchiapa, Chiapas, C.P. 29150. UPChiapas was established with a competency-based educational model that includes stays and internships in the productive sector, cross-cutting outputs, and a strong emphasis on comprehensive student formation—professional, human, and social—along with tutoring, advising, mobility, infrastructure, and compensatory support. Its mission is to train competent professionals through engineering and postgraduate study programs in a safe environment for sustainable scientific and technological development. Its vision is to be an educational institution with national and international presence through collaboration agreements and academic activities, characterized by the comprehensive formation of competent professionals for sustainable scientific and technological development. The university currently offers nine engineering programs and one bachelor's degree: Ingeniería en Nanotecnología, Ingeniería Ambiental y Sustentabilidad, Ingeniería de Manufactura Avanzada, Ingeniería en Energía y Desarrollo Sostenible, Ingeniería en Alimentos, Ingeniería Petrolera, Ingeniería en Tecnologías de la Información e Innovación Digital, Ingeniería Mecatrónica, Ingeniería Biomédica, and Licenciatura en Administración. It also offers two master's degrees—Maestría en Energías Renovables and Maestría en Biotecnología—and a Doctorado en Ingeniería.
