Universal Quantum is a quantum computing company based in Brighton, UK. The company is building utility-scale quantum computers based on a robust, modular and practical blueprint, in partnership with leading organisations and investors in the field. It was founded by Sebastian Weidt and Winfried Hensinger, who published the first practical blueprint for a large-scale trapped ion quantum computer in 2017 and incorporated the company the following year.

Since then, the company has reached major technical milestones, for example, connecting quantum modules at near-perfect fidelity with its UQConnect technology.
