Universa Krankenversicherung

Universa Krankenversicherung is a German health insurance company, founded in 1843. It is the oldest private health insurance in Germany. The company offers various private health insurance products including TopIPrivat, CLASSIC, ECONOMY, and special tariffs for civil servants, medical professionals, and students.

Universa Krankenversicherung was founded on March 5, 1843, as a health support association for tobacco factory workers in Nuremberg, initiated by Georg Heine. It later became the Nuremberg General Health Support Association. In 1922, insurance for death and survival was introduced. In 1933, the general people's death fund was approved, and in 1934, health cost insurance was added. In 1951, the transformation of the Allgemeine Volkskrankenkasse occurred.
