Overview

UltraEdge is a French data center and colocation infrastructure provider specializing in edge computing and proximity hosting. It was created on 21 November 2023 by Altice France, the parent company of telecom operator SFR, to consolidate SFR's local hosting infrastructure — including its 257 interconnected data centers and its Netcenter colocation business — into a standalone entity. The company is headquartered at 9 allée de l'Arche, 92400 Courbevoie, in the Paris region, and is structured as a simplified joint-stock company (SAS) with share capital of €569,147,931. UltraEdge positions itself as "France's leading local data center provider" and "France's leading edge data center platform." Its network comprises more than 30 regional edge data centers and 248 sites across France, with over 51 MW deployed and more than 200 telecom points of presence. The company manages six "Datapoles" in regional hubs — Lyon-Vénissieux, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille and Rennes — as well as the Paris region (Paris-Courbevoie). Its facilities are ISO 27001 and HDS-certified, ensuring compliance with demanding international standards for hosting sensitive data. The company offers three main pillars of service: colocation (private racks, cages or dedicated suites within high-availability data centers, with infrastructure redundancy, access control and high-density deployments of up to 15 kW per rack); connectivity (interconnection through a diverse ecosystem of more than 100 telecom operators, dedicated Meet-Me Rooms and cross-connect delivery within 24 hours); and support services (on-site teams, 200+ field engineers and specialists, guaranteed SLAs and 24/7 support). UltraEdge also markets itself as a partner for AI projects, offering AI-optimized hosting and Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) solutions at selected sites for high-density and HPC environments. In June 2024, Altice France finalized the sale of 70% of UltraEdge's capital to the American investment fund Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP), in a transaction valued at €764 million, with Altice France retaining 30%. The company employs over 100 people and works with 200 technical partners, managing 35,000 m² of data center space. It is pursuing an ambitious site revitalization program supported by €400 million of investment through to 2028, aimed at meeting growing data processing requirements for AI, IoT and 5G technologies. Its leadership team includes CEO Fabrice Cousin, Managing Director Laurence Guillemot, COO Frédéric Perrigault, CIO Rodrigue Esteve, CFO Harshad Nigudkar, HR Director Ludovic Puech and Director of Public Affairs Audrey Maurel.

History

UltraEdge is a French data center and colocation infrastructure provider specializing in edge computing and proximity hosting. Its origins lie in the hosting infrastructure of French telecom operator SFR. In 2014, SFR sold its Netcenter data center in Marseille to the Dutch group Interxion. In May 2022, SFR Business announced a strengthened partnership with its indirect competitors Equinix (American) and Interxion (Dutch, acquired by American company Digital Realty in 2019) to improve its enterprise offering, adding 26 new data centers in France. By 2022 and 2023, SFR operated eight data centers, notably in Aubervilliers, Val-de-Reuil and Courbevoie in the Paris region, as well as in Bordeaux, Rennes, Strasbourg and Vénissieux near Lyon, for its Netcenter offering, along with a network of 257 interconnected data centers via its fiber network. On 21 November 2023, Altice France — then indebted to the tune of $24 billion — created UltraEdge (SFR 17 SAS), a division grouping SFR's local hosting infrastructure including its 257 data centers, to facilitate the sale of 70% of the capital to Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP) in a transaction valued at €764 million. Altice France was to retain 30% of the new entity's capital. On 24 June 2024, Altice France, parent company of SFR, finalized the sale of 70% of UltraEdge's capital to the American investment fund Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP). On 15 October 2025, Orange, Bouygues Telecom and Free proposed an unprecedented €17 billion takeover of SFR, excluding stakes in UltraEdge and XpFibre. Today, UltraEdge describes itself as France's leading local data center provider and France's leading edge data center platform. It owns and operates 248 sites across France and manages six Datapoles® in regional hubs (Lyon-Vénissieux, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille and Rennes) and the Paris region (Paris-Courbevoie). The company employs over 100 people, works with 200 technical partners, and manages 35,000 m² of data center space. It is pursuing an ambitious site revitalization program supported by €400 million of investment through to 2028, aimed at meeting growing data processing requirements for AI, IoT and 5G technologies. Its facilities are ISO 27001 and HDS-certified, and its network includes more than 30 regional edge data centers, over 51 MW deployed, and more than 200 telecom points of presence, with over 100 telecom operators delivering connectivity.
